Got Deer?
Urban Deer Management is a small group of professional, ethical, law abiding individuals who share a passion for the outdoors and our hunting heritage. All members are fully licensed and hunter safety trained. We follow all state and federal laws. We provide this service free of charge.
The majority of our harvest is donated to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry. The rest is split between us and the landowner.
Our Goal is to help maintain a healthy deer population. We strictly practice Quality Deer Management. Quality Deer Management is a management philosophy/practice that unites landowners, hunters, and managers in a common goal of producing biologically and socially balanced deer herds within existing environmental, social, and legal constraints. This approach typically involves the protection of young bucks combined with an adequate harvest of female deer to maintain a healthy population in balance with existing habitat conditions and landowner desires. This level of deer management involves the production of quality deer (bucks, does, and fawns), quality habitat, quality hunting experiences, and, most importantly, quality hunters.
We use modern, highly effective archery equipment with razor sharp broadheads to ensure a quick and humane death. Bowhunting offers a safe, low profile method of managing deer herd numbers as it is effective in small areas close to houses, occupied spaces, and roadways. It is the safest and most practical method of reducing herd size to an acceptable level. We have over thirty years of hunting experience, having participated in bow hunting the majority of our lives. To ensure safe and accurate shot placement, we employ the use of tree stands. This elevated position allows for safe, downward shooting. All shots take place within 25 yards, thus further ensuring safety and swift, high mortality rate.
With the landowner’s permission, the use of legal firearms is employed during the appropriate seasons. Generally this is on larger properties, such as farmlands.
Mentoring is available to young adults and family members if interested. This is great opportunity for hands-on learning and promoting better understanding and interest in hunting and wildlife conservation that will ensure hunting’s future.
